WIKILEAKS ‘UNDER ATTACK': Julian Assange press conference SABOTAGED by cyber strike

A WIKILEAKS press conference where Julian Assange is set to reveal its latest ‘Vault7 Year Zero’ documents is being rescheduled after it suffered a “cyber attack”, the whistleblowing organisation has claimed.

Julian Assange was about to release Wikileaks’ latest set of confidential documents at an online press conference from 1pm GMT.

But, the organisation has just tweeted that Mr Assange’s social media has come “under attack” and the event will be rescheduled.

One tweet said: “Press conf under attack: Facebook+Periscope video used by WikiLeaks’ editor Julian Assange have been attacked. Activating contingency.”

A subsequent one added: “NOTICE: As Mr. Assange’s Perscipe+Facebook video stream links are under attack his video press conference will be rescheduled.”

It is not clear who is thought to be behind the alleged attack or when the press conference will now take place.

Commentators expect there to be a series of new releases as the whistleblowing organisation has given the documents the mysterious name “Vault7 Year Zero”.

The group, has been teasing the release of more confidential documents.

Over recent weeks speculation has grown as Wikileaks has tweeted about the strange title.

Today, Wikileaks tweeted that it would livestream a press conference at 1pm (GMT), adding: “Today’s pending publication contains elements that will be of interest to all tech journalists.”
